Used with Dell server, Avocent KVM, HP keyboard and Kinsington mouse. Probably could connect the kitchen sink if it needed to.I have been a Kinesis keyboard user since the product came to market. For writers and editors with small hands nothing compares to specially designed ergonomic keyboard. I had to upgrade to Windows 10 and there was no PS2 port. I have tried adapters which did not work well.Since there was no open USB plug on the motherboard, I had to buy a short USB cable, wire the adapter out of the PC case to connect to the external USB ports on the back of the PC In order to do this I had to push out one of the open slots on the back of the PC. If for some reason I have to remove the PS2 plugs or plug in a new one its kind of wobbly, otherwise it works fine. There is nothing else that I find that works better.StarTech also seems to be good brand for other items I bought. Thank you for making it so we don't have to give up the best keyboard ever made.Thought my keyboard was trash but this adapter has it up and running again I'm happy.I got this as I have a lot of older KBs and mice that use PS/2 type connections but both my newer systems use USB type connectors and don't have PS/2 type so I couldn't use many of my older KBs with them. This adapter has a Y in it with one side being the KB and other side the mouse. They are labeled by a small raised icon of a keyboard side and a small raised mouse icon on the mouse side. It plugs directly in a standard USB port and gives you both mouse and KB with one adapter. I have a USB mouse but no USB keyboards except the ones that came with both the new computers and I wanted a back up just in case I needed it. Both of the adapters's plugs work fine, but I don't plan on using them for both the mouse and the KB at the same time as I've run into conflicts at times when one USB item or another were getting in each others way. (This as especially true when dealing with joystick and game pads.) What I have checked it out for is using the keyboard with it as this is where I feel I'll need it. It works well for this and I've not run into any thing that caused me a problem to this time, but as I said this was using the PS/2 style KB to USB port side. Overall not a bad adapter to have around! It worked great at first, but after about three weeks, it started cutting out or getting key signals crossed. I had to switch back to a USB-native keyboard because the product failed to perform adequately.I didn't think it would work as I had tried the C2G branded 27277 USB Male to PS/2 Female Adapter and it would do nothing, Windows 10 Pro would not even recognize it. I've bought other StarTech accessories and they have always worked as intended, but I thought Windows 10 just didn't like the old school mechanical rubber ball mouse I bought. Shouldn't have doubted StarTech because Windows 10 Pro immediately recognized and set it up and my new old school mechanical gaming mouse is working!! And it is very well made with a good heft to it and quality, thick cabling...well worth the money.Amazon did refund my monies for the other brand's adapter that didn't work. This product does exactly what it says. I connected my PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse to it, connected it to a USB port on my computer, and both were recognized and work just great. I tried it first with just a keyboard, so you don't need to have both connected for it to work. This product works with both my Windows Vista desktop (circa 2007) and my Windows 7 laptop (circa 2011). The light for the "Num Lock" turns off sometimes when I haven't been using the computer for a few minutes, but the number lock still works, and the light will turn back on if I click the "Num Lock" key twice. One reason that I'm very happy with this product is because it pairs great with the Using it with an old AT-101w dell PS/2 keyboard. I connected the keyboard to the adapter then to USB port on may powered off laptop, then turned laptop on and the keyboard worked right away (I use this procedure to allow Windows 10 to look for the driver for new USB devices at power up, this seems to be the easiest way and win 10 has become a little better on this in recent years). The adapter is a little bulky, so this adapter may need some additional desk space or can be impractical to carry around, but for my this is not an issue because the laptop that I use it on is almost always docked at a desk, also the AT-101W keyboard is massive, I would not try to carry it around anyway.Interface works well but like all add-in cards is a bit flimsey when you push ps2 connectors into it.I used the supplied cable to connect card pins to 4 pins on USB header on motherboard (note red wire must go to pin 1 or 2 on motherboard header for power).I'm using the converter under Ubuntu/Mint and it's detected correctly on usb port assignment.Very happy that I can continue to use my ps2 mouse and keyboard.Needed to connect a old PC with separate PS/2 connectors for mouse and keyboard to a Belkin 4 port KVM switch that doesn't have any PS/2 inputs, only USB. The cheap PS/2 to male USB connectors didn't work and this was my only hope.At first I couldn't get it to work with the KVM in that selecting the PC in question on the KVM no activity apparent from the keyboard or the mouse, but after power cycling the KVM it all works fine.Expensive solution but it works which is the main thing.Use in conjunction to a Male-Male USB cable.Worked fine with kvm switchHad to make sure the supplied wire connected to the correct pins on the motherboardRecommended purchaseExactly the same issue as the previous review, after trying every method to get a USB KVM working on a system that didn't recognise anything connetced..Worked perfectly, Startech USB KVM, Startech KVM cable connected to this to the PS2 inputs..Note though it is a VERY expensive way to get a keyboard working..does what it says on the tin, good price
