Full size tree squirrels are able to raid the bait without falling in, so those critters are still chewing on my house. However, it works very well with chipmunks, and has the advantage of drowning them automatically (unlike a cage-style live trap). Have not yet tried it with mice, but I expect it will work well. Best to use crunchy peanut butter for bait.I have caught More mice than with any other trap I have ever tried.Cover did not fit lid with out blocking the door so it would not open easily, so I could only insert one of the five tabs. The slightest bump causes the door and cover both to fall into the bucket because they do not fit as they should. Tabs do not line up and two hit the hinge point if forced into the slots for them. However, they do catch mice. I expect if it was windy the cover and door would blow away.I was so excited to get these. I had such high hopes. Unfortunately after 2 months of using them I have not trapped one single rodent. I have used different things to attract them but it is ineffective. Very disappointing. It’s a great idea and very easy to use if it only worked. I would not recommend these. Back to the drawing board to find something to help control rodents.For when you have lots of mice and a single trap would not work. We use this unit in our chicken coupe because of the volume of mice eating the chicken food. We caught over 50 mice in 10 days.Love the rounded transparent cover, there is no corner for mice or rat to chew through. Could see inside of bucket without removing too. No luck in catching any yet, not sure if it is because mice and rat smells water in the bucket.Missing piecesThis trap is poorly built, the notches that the clear top snaps onto are misaligned, made it impossible to put together. I bought a set of 2, one set had broken door hinges, the box it came in was retaped and the box had bulges like it was just sent back by someone else. Not happy!
